By the time we reach the age of about 30 our communication preferences will usually have developed into a fairly consistent pattern. Most of the time this style works for us so that other people are tuned in, easy to work with, and share our vision. But some other people can be annoying difficult and hard to convince. The Achieving Communication Excellence - ACE model helps explain why this is. It uses card suits to describe four different communication styles.
ACE blends psychological research and practical experience gained from more than twenty years' work with individuals and teams communicate more effectively. ACE is a rigorously constructed analytical tool that helps individuals and teams to identify how they normally behave and provides insights into how that behaviour may not always have the outcome they intend as well as sometimes provoking negative reactions in others.
ACE helps to solve this communication puzzle. We all use each of the different approaches from time to time, but most of us rely on one or two styles which we use more than the others. Unfortunately, when our preferred approach is not working, we are more likely to emphasise the same behaviour than try something else. ACE can help you to recognise the times when this happening, and give you effective alternative strategies to use.
